Ever heard or been involved with packing shoeboxes full of nice goodies and presents for children to then be sent off somewhere as a Christmas present?
We are doing it too!
The West of England Baptist Church is partnering up with churches in Albania to personally send over shoebox presents directly this autumn. This is a great opportunity to bring thoughtful and practical gifts and know personally who you are sending it to! Also we can make sure those who receive them will get them for Christmas rather than Easter!
There is even space for a few young people to come out and give them out in Albania! (Talk to Fiona for more details).
It takes a while for the lorries to get from here to there so the need to set off in October. Which means we need to get our boxes filled, ready and brought to our harvest celebration on October 4th 2015.
It would be AMAZING if we could fill 4 boxes as a youth group! In our groups there are tickets with different item ideas for you to buy. We have 4 of each type of ticket to try and help us avoid having just one box of toothbrushes! Of course you are welcome to buy more than one item, but don’t feel pressured to.
Bring your item to your group as soon as possible so we can fill the boxes before harvest on October 4th.
Didn’t get a ticket? Not sure what to get? Want to make up your own box with your family or friends at school? Here is a list of what we are asking for suitable for children aged between 4-11 years old:
- W – Something to wash with – please put in some hygiene items –toothbrush/paste/soap /flannel.
- E – Something Educational – pens/ruler/erasers/notepad/sharpener/calculator/crayons.
- B – A Bar of chocolate or Bag of sweets. Please ensure they do not expire before January 2016.
- O – Something to put On – gloves/scarf/hat/hairclips/sunglasses/jewellery.
- X – Something eXciting – any other games/toys/items you think a child would be pleased to receive.
This Friday (25th September 2015) YAY!
